About Fara

Clinical expertise, brought home.

Fara has been a dedicated occupational therapist since 2008, specializing in adult inpatient rehabilitation following traumatic life events. She began her career in inpatient rehabilitation and the outpatient driving program at Northwest Hospital. She then brought her expertise to Boulder Community Hospital in 2014, and in 2019 she joined the inpatient rehabilitation team at UCHealth, where she continues to practice today.

Throughout her career, Fara has focused extensively on neurological re-education for individuals recovering from strokes, spinal cord injuries, and brain injuries, as well as diagnoses such as Parkinson's disease and Multiple Sclerosis. She also brings deep clinical experience working with amputees and individuals managing chronic conditions.

As an occupational therapist, Fara emphasizes mastering activities of daily living, known as ADLs, to restore functional independence and safety. Her clinical approach targets upper extremity function, cognition, balance, and vision.

Over the years, she has developed specialized expertise in comprehensive home safety evaluations, focusing on fall prevention and functional modifications for bathrooms, entryways, bedrooms, and kitchens.

Mission

Why this work matters.

The inspiration for Home Safety Solutions And Design came from a clear gap in standard healthcare: the clinical limitations on conducting thorough, timely home evaluations despite the overwhelming need for them.

As the older adult population grows, more individuals want to age in place rather than transition to assisted or independent living facilities, which can distance them from their loved ones, neighbors, and daily routines.

Fara founded this business out of a deep passion for helping seniors live safely, independently, and comfortably in their own homes for years to come.

Why It Matters

Falls are common, but largely preventable.

Falls are a leading cause of injury among older adults, but many can be prevented. Simple home changes can help maintain safety, independence, and the ability to stay in your home as you age.

Testimonials

"Fara helped us make our home safe and livable again."

We are so grateful for Fara's expert advice on the home modifications we could make to our three-story historic home to enable me to be discharged from the hospital in a wheelchair and live once again back at home.

We initially assumed we would need to construct a wheelchair ramp to enter our home, but were challenged given the steep grade of our street and yard. We ended up installing an electric lift to our back deck instead, which enabled us to leave our stone front porch, originally constructed in 1924, fully intact.

Fara was extremely helpful in helping us plan a wheelchair-friendly bathroom remodel and main-floor bedroom conversion from our former dining room. Once I moved back home, she was instrumental in teaching me to independently dress myself despite post-stroke challenges and partially paralyzed limbs. I'm very grateful for her specialized occupational therapy skills and exercises, which have brought my arm and hand back to full function.

My husband was recovering from his second spine surgery in two months. Following two weeks on an orthopedic specialty floor, he was transferred to Acute Rehabilitation, where we met the occupational therapist, Fara. She promptly addressed my husband's deficits, getting in and out of the shower, walking with a walker, and strength and balance exercises.

About a week before he was discharged to come home, Fara shared her expertise in our home setting through her business, Home Safety Solutions And Design. She walked through our home sharing ideas to keep Brad safe and independent, moving rugs and adding grab bars. She never compromised the design of our home by asking us to buy new furnishings or build new additions. Her ideas were about adapting what was already there.

Fara provided a seamless transition from rehabilitation to home. We are so grateful for her help.
